It is obviously a very difficult decision to end a marriage or civil partnership. One party will have to prepare a divorce or dissolution petition based upon what is known as the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage or civil partnership. Currently in the UK it is not possible to have a no-fault divorce and this means that a reason for divorce or dissolution needs to be stated on the petition. Whatever the reason for the breakdown of your marriage, we will try and make your divorce proceedings as smooth as possible. 
When it comes to finances, The court has a wide discretion to deal with these matters on the breakdown of a marriage and will ultimately do what is fair in all the circumstances of your individual case.

There are a number of options available to you when reaching a financial settlement. we will work with you to negotiate a financial settlement with your spouse or their solicitor without the need to attend court. We will always act in your best interests and give advice when a realistic and commercial approach is required to assist a quick settlement. . We can discuss with you alternative options to dispute resolution such as Mediation. Where court proceedings become necessary, we will advise you on the best options to ensure a fair outcome for you

    How much will it cost? 
    All clients need to budget for their legal expenses and need to know how much has been incurred and what further costs are likely.  

    Fees: We charge on a time basis but generally our costs for a straightforward undefended divorce are typically between £750 and £1,500 plus VAT.  

    Additional fees on a time charge basis will be incurred for dealing with financial provision, children matters etc
    You will also need to account for court fees of £550 which are payable when it is clear the matter must proceed to court.
